The Guinness Book of World Records 2017 edition is out, and it includes a few famous names from the world of football.

He may not have won any major trophy at Arsenal yet, unless you highly rate the Community Shield, but Petr Cech has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for two feats whilst with the Gunners.

In all fairness, one of his two certificates – yeah, Guinness hands out certificates and not awards – is mainly due to his time spent with former club Chelsea, as the Czech custodian was honored for having the most number of clean sheets in Premier League history at 181.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper was also honored for being the first goalkeeper to win the Golden Glove with two different clubs in the English top-flight – the two London giants.

Cech wasn’t the only Premier League name to enter the Guinness Book of World Record 2017 edition. English midfielder Gareth Barry, who currently plies his trade at Everton, made the list for most Premier League starts by any player in the league’s history.

The midfielder has made a staggering 580 starts, spanning over a career that has seen him feature for Aston Villa, Manchester City, and now the Toffees.

The latest book of records saw many athletes make the cut. Two other footballers – neither of which needs introduction – also earned a spot in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carli Lloyd.

The Portuguese ace, having recently won the European Championship, holds the record of most followers on Twitter by any athlete, with a following of 47.4m.

Lloyd, the USWNT World Cup-winning star, also made the book for three records. First of her achievements was the most goals in a FIFA Women’s World Cup final at three.

Carli Lloyd, USWNT, Guinness Book of World Records 2017

She also scored the quickest goal in a final – in three minutes – and is the oldest scorer in a Women’s World Cup final, at the age of 32 years and 354 days.
