The Stars & Stripes started off winning against Honduras, but their performance against Los Catrachos was not as dominant as expected. In fact, Honduras seemed to be ready to equalize the score during the final minutes of the game, but they weren't accurate when shooting on Brad Guzan's goal, giving away the first three points for the United States.
The match againt Haiti seems to be a good chance to build up the team's confidence, and while Clint Dempsey tries to confirm his good form, the U.S. will need more players to contribute. Players like Gyasi Zardes and Michael Bradley have to work even more to be more dominant on the pitch, helping their strikers create more chances. On defense, Klinsmann might want to look into starting center back Omar Gonzalez instead of Ventura Alvarado, whose shaky display was criticized by fans and experts.
On the other hand, Haiti takes on this match with nothing to lose. They were deemed as the weakest team in the tournament, but they managed to pull one point away from Panama, who ended up in second place in the last Gold Cup. With a fine performance by goalkeeper Johnny Placide, and the late goal scored by Duckens Nazon, the team from the Caribbean experienced an ego boost in their last match, and while a victory seems rather unlikely, their hopes are high after Tuesday's display.
In the tournament's history, the USMNT and Haiti have met only once. During that meeting, Haiti was able to equalize after the game's 90 minutes, in what seemed to be quite an embarrassment for the Americans. With that in mind, Klinsmann's men will have to work overtime to avoid such a shock once again.
