Uruguay opens its participation in the 2015 Copa America and the quest to defend its title against Jamaica. The team from CONCACAF is one of the two guests, including Mexico, to CONMEBOL's most prestigious tournament.
There are many concerns surrounding Uruguay's chances to retain what they won in 2011 in Argentina. Luis Suarez was the MVP in that year and scored four goals during the competition. Diego Forlan was also a key player in that accomplishment so with their absence, PSG's Edinson Cavani is expected to be the leader.
Cavani had a good year with the French side. He scored 31 goals in all the competitions he was involved. Their coach Oscar Tabarez really knows his team. He has been coaching the team since 2006. Los Charruas have not lost in their last six games. They hold a record of three wins and three draws.
Just like in the movie "Cool Runnings", Jamaica comes into a competition without many expectations set on them. The Reggae Boyz will be commanded by Winfried Schafer, a coach with plenty of international experience that is trying to rebuild a team in their road to the 2018 World Cup.
The last time these two teams met, Jamaica won by 2-0. It was the first time the Carribean team won, following two defeats from against Uruguay in previous years. Giles Barnes from the MLS Houston Dynamo is the main figure of this young Jamaican squad mostly known for their physical strengths.
This seems like an easy win panorama for Uruguay despite the players they are missing. It is also a great opportunity for Jamaica to make a historical debut against the team with the most Copa America titles (15).
