After completing his one-year contract with Chelsea, many wonder where Samuel Eto'o's next destination will be, with many clubs in England after the Cameroonian's signature

The latest transfer rumors claims Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o is set for an English Premier League stay, with Everton close to acquiring the 33-year-old's services.

The former Barcelona star joined Chelsea last season on a one-year contract after the London side failed to bring in world-class attackers in an attempt to improve on the goalscoring talents already at hand.

But with the Blues securing the signature of Brazilian-born Spanish striker Diego Costa, who has kicked of his life in England with a bang, scoring two goals in as many games, Eto'o was released by Chelsea after he had seen through his contract.

The Indomitble Lions captain is believed to have had a falling out with Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho, who famously labelled Eto'o an "old man", thus paving the way for the Cameroonian's Stamford Bridge exit, after scoring 12 goals in 35 games.

Eto'o was initially reported to be on the radar of London side West Ham, but the player's high wage demands ended any possible move. Liverpool were also linked with the striker as a back up in case their Mario Balotelli move collapsed, though the deal for the Italian was completed on Monday.

But now, according to Sky Sports, Samuel Eto'o's next destination will not be Liverpool, but Goodison Park to join the Reds' Merseyside rivals, the Toffees, teaming up with former Blues atacker Romelu Lukaku.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Eto'o will undergo a medical on Tuesday after agreeing personal terms with the Everton, and will now put pen to paper over a two-year-contract.

Eto'o could be signed in time enough to face Chelsea when the London side travel to face Roberto Martinez's men on Saturday.
