About Primera Divisió

Primera Divisió History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage

The Primera Divisió is the top level of men’s professional football in Andorra. Founded in 1995 by the Andorran Football Federation, it has been affiliated with both FIFA and UEFA since 1996, which means that teams in the Primera Divisió are able to compete in both FIFA and UEFA-sponsored competitions.

Like many other leagues worldwide, the Primera Divisió operates on a relegation-promotion system, with a number of the worst-performing teams being relegated to the Segona Divisió (second division) at the end of each season. The winner of the Primera Divisió earns a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, while the runners-up are eligible to take part in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Santa Coloma by far is the most successful team in Primera Divisió history, with more titles won than any other side since the Primera Divisió was created vin 1995.

Media broadcast rights to the Primera Divisió in Andorra are currently held by Futbol Andorra, which is affiliated with the Andorran Football Federation. The channel regularly shows matches both via TV channels and via live-streaming through its website as well as the Futbol Andorra app. Futbol Andorra has held broadcast rights since 2017 and has successfully renewed its deal running through the start of the 2027/2028 season.
