TV8,5 is a Turkish television channel owned and operated by the Acun Media Group. It was launched on October 7, 2016 as a sister channel to TV8, but with a special focus on providing entertainment to its viewers.
Over the years, TV8,5 has been labeled as an overflow channel to TV8, although it has also been used to re-broadcast some of the events and shows previously aired by TV8. In fact, their first broadcast was a repeat broadcast of a football game between Turkey and Ukraine. Other topics covered on this channel have included reality shows, lifestyle programs, business shows, TV series, and movies.
Speaking about sports, the channel began covering disciplines such as football, basketball, and motorsports in an overflow capacity to TV8. Most of the sports covered on this channel have featured international competitions, but some domestic events have also been included in the channel’s grid. Football leagues and tournaments covered by this channel have included the Coppa Italia, the Spanish Copa del Rey, and the English Premier League.
TV8,5 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched on March 3, 2017, less than six months after the channel saw the light. While the network has favored the HD option since its arrival, both feeds may still be available in the country and in other territories, which have included Azerbaijan and Cyprus.
