Norwegian pay-television broadcaster TV2 has agreed a media rights deal with FIFA for the men’s 2026 World Cup. TV2 will collaborate with NRK for their 2026 World Cup coverage and is expected to cover their share of matches live in high definition on television. TV2 is additionally expected to cover World Cup highlights, as well as complementary programming around the tournament.
TV 2 Norway holds the UEFA Champions League broadcast rights in Norway for the 2024-25 season through 2026-27, extending its previous TV rights cycle from 2021-24. All UEFA Champions League matches are available on TV 2, with most games streamable live in Norway on TV 2 Play, while select fixtures can be watched on the pay-TV channel TV 2 Sports.

Fans need the Premium or Total package to watch live UEFA Champions League matches on TV 2 Sport. Viewers can log in via TV providers Allente, Altibox, Riks TV, Telenor, Telia, and Strim. For live streaming, Norwegians require the Total package on TV 2 Play. This package offers two tiers: a cheaper option with ads and a premium ad-free tier. TV 2 Sport 1 and 2, and TV 2 Sport Premium 1 and 2, are included in this package.

Fans can live stream the UEFA Champions League on TV 2 Play in Norway using an Android smartphone, tablet, iPhone, or iPad by downloading the app from Google Play or App Store. Additionally, TV 2 Play is accessible on LG and Samsung Smart TVs, PCs, MacBooks, Chromecast with Google TV, Apple TV 4 and 4K, Android TV, and more. For clarification, TV 2 Play subscribers can stream live Champions League matches on only one screen per subscription.
TV2 has acquired exclusive LaLiga broadcast rights in Norway until 2026. The commercial broadcaster’s contract covers the 2021-22 to the 2025-26 LaLiga seasons. TV2 broadcasts and streams all ten LaLiga games live every matchday (380 games each season). Broadcasts of LaLiga matches in Norway are available on TV2’s linear channels (TV2 Sports 1, TV2 Sports 2, TV2 Sport Premium, TV2 Sport Premium 2), while streaming is accessible using TV2 Play.

Although various options are available, subscribers in Norway who want to stream LaLiga games using TV2 Play should select TV2’s “Total” package to access LaLiga matches and related content on multiple devices. Within the “Total” package, LaLiga fans in Norway can choose an option with or without advertisements. However, the non-advertisement option costs more and does not apply to live streaming of games. The ad-included option comprises approximately 5-8 minutes of commercials every hour before, during, and after events.

LaLiga streams live and on-demand are available on different devices in Norway: smart TVs (Samsung, LG), mobiles and tablets (Android and iOS), streaming devices (Chromecast, Apple TV, Google TV, and Android TV), laptops, and desktops (PCs and Macs). Additionally, subscribers can use TV2 Play throughout the EEA and the EU to watch LaLiga games while travelling outside Norway but cannot access live content outside this region.
TV2 has secured domestic TV and digital rights to Norway’s third football division. The broadcaster will show 2. divisjon matches live on television and online from 2023 till 2028, following a massive six-season deal reported to be worth half a billion dollars.

The six-season agreement was part of a major decision to cover Norway’s men and women’s domestic football action on television and through digital platforms. TV2 will telecast live First Division matches, while also providing streams online.
TV2 has acquired domestic media rights to the Toppserien, Norway’s top female football division. The multi-platform broadcaster struck a deal with the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) to show live Toppserien matches on TV and digital platforms from 2023 to 2028. TV2 was reported to have paid over $20 million for the Toppserien rights back when the deal was announced in 2020.

TV2 Sport Premium history, coverage, features

TV2 Sport Premium 1 is a Norwegian television channel owned and operated by the TV2 Group. The channel was previously known as TV2 Barclay’s Premier League, but it would be rebranded to TV2 Sport Premium 1 on June 11, 2010, the day of its official launch. The first live game aired on this channel was the 2010 FIFA World Cup inaugural match between South Africa and Mexico.

Over the years, TV2 Sport Premium has made a name for itself with its live coverage of football games. The channel has covered both club and national team football via their various broadcast deals with many leagues and competitions from all over the world. Added to that, various ice hockey competitions have been aired on the network.

TV2 Sport Premium 1 has covered club tournaments such as the English Premier League, the Scottish Premier League, the Allsvenskan, the Italian Serie A, and the UEFA Europa League. Moreover, national team football from the UEFA Nations League, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the the Africa Cup of Nations, and qualification games for the UEFA Euro and the FIFA World Cup.

TV2 Sport Premium 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was made available to users in 2018. Both feeds may still be available for users to watch in certain regions of the country.
