TSN 1050 Toronto history, coverage, features
TSN Radio is a Canadian radio station located in Toronto. It is operated by Bell Media and it began its broadcasts in 1945 under a “full-service” format, which included news shows, sports shows and music from its creation to 1957, when it switched to an all-music station until 1986.
The station then changed its programming to include sports once more in 1989, which would lead to its rebranding in 2001, when it was known as “The Team”. The concept lasted only one year, when it went back to an all-music format in 2002. In 2009, the station added news to its programming, and in 2011, Bell Media’s re-acquisition of the station led to a new rebranding: TSN Radio 1050, which lasts until these days.
The first sports broadcasts heard in this station go back to the early 1990s, featuring games for the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB) and the Toronto Argonauts (CFL). Since then, TSN Radio 1050 has added a variety of sports for fans to listen to, which have included games for the Toronto Raptors (MLB), the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and Toronto FC (MLS). TSN Radio 1050 has also aired events such as the Winter and Summer Olympics, NFL games and the Men’s World Hockey Championship.
