About
RTM TV2 history, coverage, features
TV2 is a Malaysian television channel owned and operated by Radio Television Malaysia. This channel was launched on November 17, 1969 under the name Rangkaian Kedua, a name that would stand until 1978, when the channel became known as RTM 2. In 2009, the channel went through a new re-branding, becoming known as TV2. The channel is the second oldest TV network in the country, six years younger than its sister channel, TV1.
Over the years, TV2 has been known for airing content related to various topics, which have included news broadcasts, talk shows, game shows, documentaries, magazine shows, drama series from China and other Asian countries, movies, children’s programming, and sports. Most of the content aired on this channel has been featured in Malay language, although there have been other languages included in its programming, such as English, Chinese, Indian, Korean, or Turkish.
Speaking about sports, TV2 has focused on airing content related to disciplines such as wrestling, basketball, cycling, and more. Some of the sports programming has included live broadcast of sports events, although sports magazine shows and highlights programs have been favored by this channel as time has gone by.
TV2 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, although a High-Definition feed saw the light on April 1, 2019, which marked its parent company’s 73rd anniversary. Both feeds might still be available to watch via different pay-tv carriers across the country and via the Malaysian terrestrial television grid.
