UEFA Champions League

Premier Sports has acquired non-exclusive English-language broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in Ireland from the 2024-25 season through to 2026-27 after securing a three-year deal. The pay-TV provider has the first match choice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for live Champions League broadcasts on TV and online in Ireland.

In addition, Premier Sports provides live streaming and television coverage of the 2025, 2026, and 2027 editions of the UEFA Champions League final.

Subscribers can live-stream Champions League matches via Premier Sports Player, the network’s premium streaming service. Premier Sports Player is accessible via several devices, including smart TVs, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, mobiles (iOS and Android), and gaming consoles. Moreover, users can watch the Champions League in Ireland through Sky’s ‘Sports Extra’ pack, which features the channels Premier Sports 1, Premier Sports 2 and TNT Sports network. A subscription to NOW Sports Extra Membership also lets football fans watch the Champions League on multiple devices simultaneously while on the go.

Extra UEFA Champions League content is available on Premier Sports, including comprehensive match highlights on every game night and specially curated football shows, such as the UEFA Champions League Magazine program that features match analysis, interviews, and behind-the-scenes coverage.

Spain - La Liga

Pay-TV broadcaster Premier Sports has retained its Spanish La Liga rights in the UK and Ireland until 2025. The network’s three-year deal grants Premier Sports’ users the opportunity to watch live La Liga matches on linear TV channels and on-the-go, in high definition.

Football fans in the UK and Ireland can watch live action from the German Cup via Premier Sports, from the start of the 2022-23 season until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The deal between the German Football Federation and Premier Sports includes two matches from each round of the competition up to (and including) the semi-finals.

The platform typically chooses the biggest matches from each round, usually those involving Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

To watch the German Cup live on Premier Sports, fans have two options. They can either pay a monthly subscription fee or pay for matches on a game-by-basis. The platform is available as a TV Channel on Sky and as an online streaming platform and app.

A magazine show called DFB-Pokal Zone is regularly uploaded to Premier Sports, and highlights are also available for a limited time.

Spain - Copa del Rey

Premier Sports holds the broadcast rights to the Copa del Rey for the 2024-25 season under a single-year agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The deal enables the British network and its digital platform, Premier Sports Player, to offer coverage of the tournament within both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

This agreement grants access exclusively to the final stages of the competition. Premier Sports broadcasts the two semifinal matches and the final, with all games available in either High Definition or Standard Definition depending on the user’s setup—whether via pay-TV services or through mobile applications.

The network is also authorized to create highlight packages and include goal replays in its football coverage and sports news programs.

To watch Copa del Rey matches on Premier Sports, viewers must subscribe to a participating pay-TV provider such as Sky or Virgin TV. Streaming access is available through the Premier Sports Player app, which supports Smart TVs running Android TV or Fire TV, mobile devices with Android or iOS, and casting systems like Chromecast and AirPlay. Matches can also be streamed via web browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari, requiring user login credentials to access the platform.

Scotland - Scottish Cup

Premier Sports has secured a long-term extension with the Scottish Football Association, allowing the pay-TV broadcaster to continue its coverage of the Scottish Cup until the end of the 2028-29 season. This renewal includes an additional third match in rounds four and five of the knockout competition.

Premier Sports is pay-TV sports network available in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. It launched back in 2009 after the termination of Setanta Sports GB. It is owned by Premier Media Broadcasting Ltd., who also run the FreeSports channel in the UK. Over the years, it has moved away from its strong reliance of Setanta Sports in Ireland—now eir Sport—to become an independent broadcaster with access to major football tournaments.

Its history of comprehensive football coverage includes the live telecast of matches from competitions all over the world, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the United States’ Major League Soccer. It has also been successful in securing deals in South America over the years to air games from the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, as well as the Copa America.

Its collection of TV rights in Europe has been shuffled continually with live transmission catering to the needs of viewers with a taste in Dutch, Italian, Scottish and Spanish football. Whereas much of Premier Sports’ coverage comes in the form 90-minute matches, the network has also been providing coverage of competitions and friendlies in the form of highlights and magazine shows.

Events from other sports are also broadcast on the network. Some of the popular disciplines constituting its programming include motorsports and rugby, though Premier Sports has also signed contracts with major entities in the world of boxing and mixed martial arts in the past.

Premier Sports 1 is available in high definition to Sky customers in the UK via satellite on Channel 412. It is also available via cable on Virgin Media in HD on Channel 551. Its content is additionally simulcast live in HD and made available on demand on Premier Player–Premier Sports’ official 24/7 streaming service–which is also available on Android and iOS. Access is equally granted to subscribers of the Virgin TV Anywhere service.

Following the acquisition of Premier Sports by Viaplay Group in July 2022, Premier Sports channels were rebranded to Viaplay Sports in November of that year. However, it was announced that Premier Sports had a successful buyout deal in November 2023, and in April 2024, it relaunched one more time under its original Premier Sports name. At the time, the broadcaster managed to retain its rights to major sports competitions as part of its extensive portfolio, including the UEFA Euro qualifiers, National Hockey League (NHL), Nascar, Scottish Cup, Spanish LaLiga, and United Rugby Championship (URC).
