NBC Seattle KING 5 history, coverage, features
KING-TV is an American television channel affiliated to the NBC, which serves the city of Seattle, Washington. It was created in 1948 and is owned by Tegna Inc. It broadcasts both in standard and high definition.
King-TV, also known as KING 5, is available on digital channel 25 (UHF) and virtual channel 5 (PSIP). Much of its daily content is about newscasts and reports, however, it has also covered sporting events involving college and professional Washington-based teams in the past, such as the Washington State Cougars (college football), Huskies (college), Mariners (MLB), Seahawks (NFL) and Storm (women’s basketball).
Over the years, soccer on KING-TV has revolved around coverage of Major League Soccer matches from Seattle Sounders FC. The club spent its first years on TV on both KING-TV and KONG-TV, before opting to partner with fellow local stations Fox Q13 and JoeTV in 2013.
King 5 live streams are available internationally on the network’s official website, with users having the choice to switch between a set of video qualities. In 2019, the channel also announced the launch of a new King app for Android and iOS mobile devices, with features including real-time news notifications, clips and live video.
