Following ESPN's acquisition of La Liga rights in 2021, Disney-owned network ABC has expanded its sports broadcasting portfolio in USA by featuring select high-profile matches from Spain's top soccer league. ABC’s LaLiga coverage may include the renowned El Clásico matchups between Barcelona and Real Madrid, among other significant games.

ESPN has secured exclusive LaLiga broadcast rights in the United States from 2021 to 2029. The pay-TV provider, which the Walt Disney Corporation owns, has an eight-year contract with the Spanish Primera División that is worth an estimated $1.4 billion (or $175 million per year), making it among the most expensive contracts for a US-based corporation for a non-American sporting league. ESPN’s LaLiga TV deal surpassed the $1 billion paid by NBC to acquire broadcast rights to the English Premier League in 2016 and was the most expensive until NBC’s new six-year contract with the Premier League was unveiled in 2022 at approximately $450 million annually.

ESPN broadcasts and streams all 380 LaLiga games live in the United States on its linear and digital platforms. All LaLiga matches are streamed, both live and on-demand, with English and Spanish language commentary on ESPN’s over-the-top (OTT) platform, ESPN+. Replays and full highlights are also available on ESPN.com. In addition, select LaLiga games are shown with English and Spanish language commentary on ESPN’s family of linear channels, including ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes.

ESPN+ is accessible in the USA on a wide range of devices, including mobiles (Android and iOS), tablets (Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire), desktops and laptops (both PCs and Macs in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari web browsers), streaming devices (Apple TV, Cox Contour TV and Contour Stream Player, Chromecast, Roku, Xumo), smart TVs (Samsung, LG), and gaming devices (PlayStation and Xbox). Viewers can select a monthly or an annual plan, with promotions often offered on ESPN+’s yearly contracts.

Subscribers in the United States and select US territories (including Puerto Rico) can also watch LaLiga bonus content on ESPN’s linear and digital platforms, as well as on the network’s website and social media channels. This includes curated programs such as Sports Center, ESPN FC, Fuera de Juego, and Jorge Ramos y su Banda, match previews, and game analysis. Other highlight shows include LaLiga World, which features highlights and interviews with key players, coaches, and other personalities; LaLiga Show, which offers previews of key games ahead of each match week; El Clasico specials (one-hour programs focusing on the build-up to Clasico ties each season), and LaLiga season preview and review (one-hour programs discussing the build-up before and recap after each season).

DAZN shows LaLiga highlights to subscribers in the United States. Its LaLiga-related programming includes season reviews, El Clásico summaries and highlights of other matches, particularly those involving FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
