The Spanish youngster scored a thunderous goal in El Clasico to write his name in history.

Although Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show in Sunday’s Clasico with his goal and red card, one man quietly went by his day, proving he is one of the hottest young attacking talents in the world of football: Marco Asensio.

The Spanish starlet scored a fantastic goal from 25 yards in the dying minutes of the game to give the away side, who had been decreased to nine men, a 3-1 victory. Furthermore, the 21-year-old was only on the pitch for the last 15 minutes after being substituted on.

His latest goal continued a trend. Asensio, an excellent impact player, has an eye for scoring goals in debuts – somewhat of a Spanish version of Marcus Rashford.

On Sunday, the Real Madrid youngster set a record. He became the first player to score for any club in his debut in five different competitions. Having cost Los Blancos €3.7m in his move from Real Mallorca, he is now starting to look like a huge bargain.

Asensio’s first competitive game with the Champions League holders came in the UEFA Super Cup. With Cristiano Ronaldo on break due to Euro 2016, the Spaniard was given a nod ahead of James Rodriguez and scored past Sevilla.

His first Spanish Primera Division game for Zidane’s side came in the first round of the 2016/17 season. It took Asensio only 40 minutes to score his first goal.

Marco had to wait for his first Champions League match, with that match coming on October 18 against Legia Warsaw. The Bernabeu fans did not have to wait for his goal, however, as his debut goal came after only 37 minutes.

His first Copa del Rey game came against La Cultural y Deportivo Leonesa, as Asensio was one of a few first-team players named in the starting eleven. His first goal came in his debut King’s Cup match.

Sunday’s 3-1 win over Barca was Asensio’s first Supercopa de Espana tie, and he also scored against the Blaugrana. Expect a lot from the 21-year-old.
