How to watch Ligue 1 in Kenya

Multichoice-owned SuperSport has acquired the broadcast rights to Ligue 1 in Sub-Saharan Africa through its partnership with major French pay-TV broadcaster Canal+, which acquired Multichoice in September 2025.

Through this arrangement, fans in Sub-Saharan Africa can watch up to three live Ligue 1 matches each week, and occasionally even more, in English on SuperSport. This includes matches involving French giants PSG, Marseille, Monaco, and Lyon, with the very first Ligue 1 game broadcast live under this deal being PSG’s 3-3 draw with Strasbourg on October 17, 2025.

SuperSport’s Ligue 1 coverage in Sub-Saharan Africa extends not only to English-speaking countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Uganda but also to Portuguese-speaking territories, including Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Angola. Meanwhile, Canal+ holds French-language Ligue 1 rights in Africa’s Francophone (French-speaking) countries.

Viewers in the Sub-Saharan region require a DStv, DStv Stream, or GOtv subscription to watch SuperSport’s live Ligue 1 coverage. SuperSport announced at the launch of its Ligue 1 coverage that live French top-flight games would not be included in Showmax packages.

DStv is a satellite pay-TV service, while GOtv is a more affordable digital terrestrial pay-TV service. A DStv or GOtv subscription comes with free streaming access via the DStv/DStv Stream app or the GOtv Stream app. However, DStv customers can also subscribe to a DStv Stream package that does not require a DStv decoder/set-top box.

In Kenya, fans can watch live Ligue 1 matches on StarTimes App, available on both TV and streaming platforms. Coverage is confirmed for seasons 2024-2027.

Ligue 1 fans in over 40 African countries can watch select Ligue 1 matches live in French on TV5MONDE Afrique. This includes countries such as South Africa, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal, with French top-flight games airing on Saturdays.

Additionally, the network broadcasts complementary Ligue 1 programs, including “L'avant-match,” a pre-match show that previews the upcoming French top-flight rounds in detail, covering everything from the top fixtures to players to watch.

The channel also features “Foot!”, a show aired at the end of each matchday that recaps highlights and goals from that round. Furthermore, “Portraits de joueurs” (Player Portraits) looks back at some iconic Ligue 1 players, while “Les Clubs” (The Clubs) delves into the history of various Ligue 1 teams.

Viewers can access TV5MONDE Afrique through both free and subscription-based satellite TV services, such as DStv and Canal Plus Afrique. Additionally, the TV5MONDE Afrique app allows fans to stream live Ligue 1 matches on their Android or iOS devices.
