Former Real Madrid great Kaka has urged Real Madrid fans to show more respect for their superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The ex-Brazil international was speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena COPE ahead of much-awaited El Clasico to be played at the Nou Camp on April 2, 2016.
In the interview, Kaka explained:
"I'd like to see the fans show Cristiano more respect. It's not nice to hear him booed from time to time after everything he's done for the club."
He was referring to previous incidences when the former Man United man was booed by Madridistas, most recently due to the comments he allegedly made about his teammates not being up to his level. He also pointed out that the booing at the Santiago Bernabeu has become a habit, and that Cristiano is not the only victim.
"When you join Real Madrid you know that's the way it is. It's not just Cristiano - the same happened with [Zinedine] Zidane, Raúl and Iker Casillas. It's always been like that".
The 33-year-old Orlando City SC attacking midfielder also heaped praise on coach Zinedine Zidane, who is a club legend. He added:
"He (Zidane) was vastly experienced as a player, playing and winning a lot. He's a winner, he knows his way round a dressing room and he understands players. He has what it takes and he's going to be a really great coach for Real Madrid.''
