The match official in the German lower league even pressed heads with the player after turning down demands for a spot kick.

Violence against referees is unfortunately a growing trend in modern day football – more common in lower leagues, though – with a match official sadly even being shot dead after sending a player off.

As a result, it comes as little surprise that one referee in the German lower league got physical with a player after being swarmed to award a spot kick.

In a match between TSG Neustrelitz and Oberlausitz Neugersdorf, the referee clashed with a TSG player, by the name of Fabio Viteritti, when the official turned failed to award a penalty.

After consulting with the linesman, the referee down requests for a spot kick, resulting in several of the TSG boys swarming the official, who later pressed heads with one of the player before shoving him to the floor.
