Fiorentina have hardly been the most impressive side in Serie A this season, and have spent much of the season trying to force their way into European contention. And with Atalanta pulling off a big upset of their own by beating serial cup winners Juventus 3-0, Fiorentina's chances at possibly winning a piece of silverware this season just may have increased significantly. Meanwhile, Napoli will be looking for some kind of redemption after their disappointment in the Coppa Italia and will be hoping to further close the gap on Juventus. The Bianconeri slipped up recently in a three-all draw against Parma, which has allowed Napoli, thanks to their 3-0 win over Sampdoria, to now move within nine points of the reigning Scudetto champions.
Skipper Marek Hamsik is reportedly set for a move to China, so will play no part in this contest. This game certainly is particularly notable for Partenopei fans - and for all the wrong reasons - as last season, Fiorentina ruined Napoli's chances at winning the Scudetto by winning 3-0, which allowed Juventus to pull just ahead of their reach.
