There were several rumors about Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United, but that was never a possibility for Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach considered a couple of issues prior to trying to sign the footballer, and given the small window for success, Mourinho decided to focus his transfer business in other targets.
"We never thought about it, because he is a very important player inside his squad, which happens to be one of the most relevant in European football. We never found a real reason why Ronaldo wanted to leave, and I've always chosen to spend time trying to sign players that are real possibilities for my teams. Trying to sign him was an impossible mission, that's why we never considered to make a move," Mourinho stated.
The Portuguese player is yet to make a decision about his future, following claims about being annoyed by the team's lack of support in his problem with the Spanish IRS. Meanwhile, the Red Devils and Los Blancos will keep preparing for next season, with an International Champions Cup match set to be played between them next week.
