Über National League
National League Geschichte, Format, Organisation, Medienberichterstattung
Die National League ist die fünfthöchste Meisterschaft im englischen Fußball-Ligasystem und die höchste Division des National League Systems. Gegründet 1979, war der Wettbewerb zuvor als Conference National bekannt.
Die Liga besteht aus einer Mischung aus Profi- und Halbprofi-Mannschaften. Die in der National League teilnehmenden Vereine können am englischen FA Cup teilnehmen. Insgesamt treten 24 Teams in diesem Wettbewerb im Doppelrundensystem an, was bedeutet, dass jeder Klub in der Saison zweimal gegen jeden anderen spielt. Der Meister der Liga steigt automatisch in die EFL League Two auf, während die schlechtesten Teams in die National League North oder National League South absteigen.
