Superliga geschiedenis, opzet, organisatie, media-aandacht

De 1e Divisie (1. Division) is de op een na hoogste voetbalcompetitie voor mannen in Denemarken. Opgericht in 1945, diende het als de hoogste divisie van het land tot de oprichting van de Deense Superliga in 1991. Het kampioenschap wordt beheerd door de Deense Voetbalbond (DBU).

De 1e Divisie bestaat uit 12 teams die in twee fasen strijden: het reguliere seizoen en de play-offs na het seizoen. Tijdens het reguliere seizoen spelen de teams thuis en uit tegen elkaar in een dubbele competitie, goed voor in totaal 22 speelronden. De beste zes clubs gaan door naar de "Promotiegroep", terwijl de onderste zes in de "Degradatiegroep" terechtkomen.

In de Promotiegroep spelen de teams nog eens twee keer tegen elkaar voor 10 extra wedstrijden, terwijl de Degradatiegroep hetzelfde format volgt. Alle punten en doelpunten (gescoord en tegen) uit het reguliere seizoen worden meegenomen naar de play-offs. Het team dat als eerste eindigt in de Promotiegroep wordt kampioen, terwijl de beste twee teams promoveren naar de Superliga, de hoogste divisie van Denemarken. Aan de andere kant van de ranglijst degraderen de onderste twee clubs in de Degradatiegroep naar de Deense 2e Divisie, de derde divisie van het land.

Boldklubben af 1893, beter bekend als B.93, won de eerste titel in 1945-46, terwijl Brøndby IF de trofee in 1990 in de wacht sleepte tijdens het laatste jaar van de competitie als hoogste divisie van Denemarken. Næstved IF won het eerste seizoen van de 1e Divisie na de herclassificatie, en clubs zoals Vejle Boldklub, Esbjerg fB en Viborg FF hebben sindsdien opmerkelijke successen behaald in dit kampioenschap.
