About Kabel Eins Schweiz
Kabel eins is a free-to-air German channel owned and operated by ProSiebenSAT.1 Media AG. It was launched on February 29, 1992 as Kabelkanal, but it would later be rebranded as Kabel 1 in 1994. The channel would keep that name until 2005, when it was rebranded to its current denomination. Kabel eins is one of six channels owned by ProSiebenSAT.1 Media AG.
Kabel eins is known as an entertainment channel, since most of its programming includes American films, documentaries, TV series, and animation shows. Kabel eins also purchased some local shows from a German TV channel, RTL II in the past, in order to broaden their offer for their viewers.
Kabel eins has managed to turn shows that were flops in other channels into a raging success, as was the case with the police drama series “Without a Trace”. Other popular shows aired by this channel include “24”, “Alf”, “Frasier”, “That 70’s show”, and more.
Kabel eins was used as an overflow channel to Sat 1., one of its sister channels, to cover UEFA Europa League games. In fact, the game between Schalke 04 and Dutch side Twente on March 15, 2012 gave the channel its highest rating in history.
Kabel eins is available on the German digital terrestrial feed, and on several cable and satellite TV companies. Moreover, the channel may also be available in neighboring countries such as Switzerland, Belgium, and Austria.
