Antena 1 History, Coverage, Features

Antena 1 is a Romanian television channel owned and operated by the Antena TV Group. This channel was launched on November 29, 1993.

Over the years, Antena 1 has been labeled as a general entertainment channel, with sports, news broadcasts, talk shows, entertainment programs, tv series, variety shows, and more playing a major part in the channel’s programming. Following an intervention from the government in 2014, the channel has shifted its approach with its news broadcasting show being one of the most watched in the country.

Speaking about sports, Antena 1 has covered domestic football competitions such as the Liga I and the Romanian Cup, although its programming has been oriented to a general audience in recent years rather than to satisfy sports fanatics.

Antena 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light on November 28, 2016. Both feeds might still be available for users to watch in different regions of the country.
