The Korean ace will enter the final year of his contract next summer, but offers from other clubs could see him leave after nine years.

It was not an easy moment for Tottenham fans -and also for chairman Daniel Levy- to see Harry Kane leaving this summer. That move left Spurs with a new dilemma, and Kane's departure has already helped the team's hierarchy to decide what they want to do when Son Heung-Min's time with them approaches its end.

A report by The Telegraph states that Levy, along with his advisors, have agreed that keeping the Korean ace is a must for the North Londoners, meaning that the club will offer the player an extension to his current deal. But if those talks are not successful, Tottenham will buy some more time by triggering a clause in his contract that extends his deal with Spurs automatically once this season comes to an end.

The article states that Spurs' execs are not in a rush to sign a new deal with the footballer, especially due to the clause included in his contract. Son's deal is set to expire by the end of the 2024-25 season, and due to his relevance within the team, the club will not allow their captain to go through a similar experience as Harry Kane this summer.

The club's all-time top scorer left Spurs with only one year left in his contract, despite numerous efforts to extend his deal. Chairman Daniel Levy reluctantly sold Kane to Bayern after the German side came up with a $115M offer for the striker, marking the end of the 30-year-old with the North London club.

Son, who turned 31 in July, would also be keen on signing a new contract with Tottenham, which would effectively see him playing with the club until the end of his career. The Korean star has scored 148 goals in 377 apps for the North London side, good enough for the sixth spot among scorers in Tottenham's history.

Keeping Son around will give fans a huge boost in confidence, especially since he is one of the few links left betwen the current version of the club and the one that reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2019.
