The French giants will welcome the Bundesliga champions this Tuesday for the 1st leg of their round of 16 showdown and have received a huge injury update ahead of that tie.

With PSG set to face Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 showdown this Tuesday, much of the focus surrounding the French giants is on their midweek game, not this weekend's clash with Monaco.

And fortunately for the Paris giants, they have received a huge boost as one star player looks to be fit for the highly-anticipated Parc des Princes matchup. That man is none other than Lionel Messi, who was recently nominated for The Best FIFA Men's Player award, alongside teammate Kylian Mbappe.

The Argentine played in Les Parisiens' most recent fixture, their Coupe de France clash with Marseille, which they lost 2-1. Leo, who completed the full 90 minutes, strained his hamstring in that defeat, with many initially speculating he would miss Tuesday's UEFA Champions League tie.

However, speaking ahead of Saturday's Ligue 1 encounter with Monaco, head coach Christophe Galtier calmed all fears surrounding the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, revealing that the Argentine will be back in time for the 1st leg.

"Leo won't be available for the Monaco game tomorrow," Galtier said, as per Marca

"He will resume training on Monday, the day before the game against Bayern Munich. So you can leave the term 'doubtful' aside."

This is a huge boost for PSG as they look to end their wait for European glory. Bayern Munich, the team that beat the French heavyweights in the 2020 UEFA Champions League final, will be a tough test but with La Pulga present, the home side's odds of progressing will increase.

Unfortunately, Galtier will still be without his main man: Kylian Mbappe. The 2018 World Cup winner picked up a thigh issue in the trip to Montpellier on February 1 and has been ruled out for the 1st leg, thus robbing PSG of their top scorer for this crucial showdown.
