The fans were aware of some absences, but these new names will surely diminish the team's chances of winning the title.

Real Madrid was off to a good start of the year by beating Getafe away from home, but their fans have reasons to worry about what's coming for them in the Spanish Super Cup starting this Wednesday.

Earlier today, Los Blancos issued the names that will be making the trip to Saudi Arabia to play in this competition, and to much surprise, the names of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema were not included in this list.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Benzema was left out of the squad after picking up a knock to his left leg, which may see him out for one week. As for Bale, the Welsh ace picked up a respiratory problem, which will leave him out of the game against Valencia.

The Spanish publication states that there could be a chance to see Bale playing in the Super Cup final, but Real Madrid will have to get there without two of their finest players. Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio had already been ruled out of the tournament due to their long-term injuries.

Here's Real Madrid's full squad for the 2020 Spanish Super Cup.
