PSG’s surprise exit from the Champions League was last week, yet the manner in which the Ligue 1 giants crashed out of the competition remains hard to swallow.
Despite boasting a 4-0 lead from the first-leg, they lost 6-5 and bowed out at the round of 16. Barcelona benefited from some debatable officiating, but the fact that Les Parisiens lost stands still.
Eden Hazard used that slip-up as a reference in a recent interview. The Belgian playmaker spoke to the Telegraph, discussing a long-list of topics such as their Premier League titles hopes.
The Chelsea superstar was asked whether he feels the Blues are clear favorites to lift the title. It was a fair question, given that Antonio Conte’s boys enjoy a 10-point lead with only 11 games remaining in the season.
Hazard punned a new phrase, one that Unai Emery’s side won’t be happy to hear: doing the PSG. The 26-year-old warned his side not to throw everything away and lose a comfortable lead in similar fashion to Cavani and Co.
“But you saw what happened in the Camp Nou, Barcelona,” Hazard told the Telegraph.
“I think if we don’t win the title this season it’s something like PSG; the same feeling. Because, you know, you win 4-0 at home and then you think that you can go through.
“If we don’t win the title this season it will be something of the same feeling because we have the opportunity to win so we have to. But don’t think too early about the title, think game after game.”
The former Lille ace could be in action later today. Chelsea take on Manchester United in the FA Cup, with a spot in the semi-final up for stake.
