Having broken Manchester United’s goalscoring record, rumors emerged linking Wayne Rooney with a move to Manchester United. Now, he has spoken about his future with the Red Devils.
The Englishman is no longer a starter at Old Trafford. After a disappointing 2015/16 campaign, followed by the arrival of Jose Mourinho, Rooney has found himself sitting on the bench more often than not.
Thus talk of a move to the Far-East comes as little surprise. However, the Three Lions captain has spoken against these rumors, claiming he is committed to staying with the 20-time Premier League champions.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement was followed by mediocre seasons at Oldd Trafford. Jose Mourinho endured a rough beginning, but looks to guide the club to its former self, something Rooney admits to being excited about.
"Of course, I'm committed to the club," Rooney said, as per the Daily Express.
"I've been at the club a long time and you know football is a strange game and anything can happen, things change very quickly, but I'm happy at Manchester United.
"Of course, as I've said before, I want to play more games, but I'm in a happy place at the moment."
Football is unpredictable, which means that Rooney could still depart over the summer despite committing to the club. His free-kick goal against Stoke showed that Wayne isn’t done yet, which means he could still pack his bags for regular playing time.
