The year 2017 has started off quite well for Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal, who had a terrible outing with the Catalan giants last year. The ex-Sevilla man put up a man of the match performance when the Spanish giants hosted Las Palmas at the Nou Camp on Saturday.
He then summed up the brilliant display by scoring the club's fifth goal of the match, which was his first ever for Barcelona. And the technical bench and players could not hide their excitement as the 27-year-old slotted the ball past the well-beaten Las Palmas goalie after a beautiful counter attack from the hosts.

Speaking after the match, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique heaped praises on the defender. Surprisingly, so unconvincing he was last season that he had been linked with a move to join Turkish giants Galatasaray. Enrique said:
"Aleix Vidal has been excellent, marvellous and he has shown he is ready to compete.''
This however does not indicate whether he will earn a regular spot in the club's first eleven. But thanks to the brilliant performance, there is at least some light at the end of the dark tunnel that had engulfed his career last year.
