The 16th round of La Liga fixtures is here with us. Top of the list is the Barcelona vs Espanyol match which will be played on Sunday at the Nou Camp. These two teams have been rivals since time immemorial and this weekend’s clash promises some level of excitement and beautiful football.
Another La Liga giant, Atletico Madrid, welcomes Las Palmas at the capital in a match the hosts have to win in order to increase their chance of entering into the top four after a disappointing season so far. Diego Simeone’s men sit at an unusual 6th position on the log with only 25 points out of 15 matches, while Las Palmas are 10th with 21 points out of 15 games.
European champions Real Madrid will not play this weekend as they are currently participating in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament where they face Kashima Antlers at the International Stadium Yokohama on Sunday in the final of the competition. They were scheduled to play Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday but the match has been postponed.
