UEFA Champions League football is back, and the battle to set records has already begun.
The first goal of this tournament was scored by Edinson Cavani, after putting to good use an assist by Serge Aurier. The Uruguayan ace scored against Arsenal just after 42 seconds, with his goal being good enough to reach the 18th goal mark, the most scored by any Uruguayan in this competition.
Cavani also managed to set a new record for the fastest goal scored by PSG in the continental tournament, beating the previous record by ten seconds. Curiously enough, that 55-second goal was also scored by the Uruguayan back in 2014.
Added to that, Cavani's goal "helped" Arsenal reach one more record.
42 - Edinson Cavani's strike is the earliest goal Arsenal have conceded in Champions League history (42 seconds). Stunned.

A couple of minutes later, Lionel Messi wrote his name on the scoresheet by striking hard a through ball by Neymar. The Argentinean drilled his shot into the top left hand corner, and managed to beat a personal best when it comes to quick scoring.
The 3rd-minute goal is the earliest of Lionel Messi's 84 career Champions League goals. It's his 4th goal in 5 career #UCL games vs Celtic
