In a sign of good gesture, Croatia have pledged to award the steward who got injured by a flare during UEFA Euro 2016 a jersey with the autographs of all 23 of their players.
This move by the Vatreni comes ahead of their highly-anticipated round of 16 clash on Saturday, with Ante Cacic’s boys gearing up for a tricky clash with Portugal, led by a Cristiano Ronaldo who scored two goals in his last game.
The steward – named Abdel Issaoui – was present during Croatia’s clash with Czech Republic during the group stage, a game which was marred with embarrassment for Croatia due to their fans despicable actions.

Supporters of the Vatreni halted the game after throwing flares on the pitch late in the second half during the Geoffroy-Guichard clash, with Issaoui falling when one flare exploded. Play eventually resumed, but the match saw Ivan Perisic and Co. throw away a 2-0 lead to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Croatia quickly recovered from that slip up, as they went on to shock defending champions Spain 2-1 in the last group stage game to finish in first place, and thus set up a tie with Selecção das Quinas – one of the best third-placed teams in the tournament.
