England boss Roy Hodgson remained upbeat after his side bagged a narrow 1-0 win against Portugal.

Their final Euro warm-up ended on a positive note, thanks to a late goal by Chris Smalling against a ten-man Portugal. This has been England's third consecutive victory at Wembley, as they now will travel to France for the anticipated European Championship this summer.

With Rooney and Co. beating Turkey, Australia and now the Portuguese side, Hodgson has nine days left to prepare for their Group B opener against Russia. The match will take place on June 11th at the Stade Vélodrome.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Roy Hodgson was pleased with his team's performance.

"We’d have preferred 11 v 11 so the game would have flowed more, it would have been attack, defence, attack, defence. Tonight it was pretty much us on the ball on the time having to find a way through a packed and well organised Portuguese defence.

“But I’m pleased we kept our composure, please we showed patience and pleased with the clean sheet and pleased the longer the game wore on we got more and more dangerous and looked like scoring a goal.

“When we eventually got it, it was a result of a long period of pressure and sustained pressure.”

The 68-year-old manager added:

"It went like it went. I am not prepared to add my voice to the debate.

"I am not prepared to say this is better, or that is better. We need both systems. We need all of those players playing well. We need all of those players doing what they can do well.England

"Of course in every game of football some people have a really good night, and some have a less good night, and I am not prepared to stand here on national television and criticise some players while praising others.

"I am really happy. The 23 players have really done well and if I start being dissatisfied when we win three games in a row against Turkey, Australia and Portugal then I am going to be a very hard coach to please."

Can England continue their unbeaten streak in Euro 2016?
