Given that Sporting CP won their match, it's quite simple. Benfica must win against Maritimo later today. The Eagles and the Lions have been battling it out for the coveted prize for large spells of the season and it is really no sprurpse. Sporting CP are now under the tutelage of none other than ex-Benfica boss Jorge Jesus and are in a good position to finally end Benfica's dominance as Portugal's no. 1 side. However, new Benfica manager Rui Vitoria has done an excellent job in his debut season on the tactician's bench and will naturally want to further endure himself to the club's faithful by clinching their 35th league title.
Benfica were unlucky to see their European ambitions end this season as they were narrowly edged out 3-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich. At this point, both them and Sporting CP will have a crack at featuring in the Champions League next season. Meanwhile, Benfica's upcoming opponents Maritimo are also guaranteed safety in the top flight.
Despite losing their past two fixtures, they have picked up 35 points and currently sit in 12th, and in theory have nothing left to play for. However, they will be playing at home and will be eager to put on a good show in front of their home support - and this is where they potentially could try to cause some headaches for the visiting reigning champions.
Should they manage to win - it will be a long time coming. Maritimo have not beaten Benfica since August 18, 2013, when they edged them out 2-1, and the two sides will meet again later this month in a Taca da Liga tie.
