The Sun reports that Spanish La Liga defending champions Barcelona are eyeing a £15 million big for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. The Foxes shot-stopper has been in fine form this season, having made 70 saves and kept 15 clean sheets so far. He is actually one of the reasons behind Leicester’s resurgence in the Premier League this season. Back to Schmeichel, son of former Man United legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, Los Blaugrana are plotting to have him as Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s replacement. Luis Enrique’s side are reportedly preparing a £15 million deal which will be officially tabled in the summer.
On the other hand, Ter Stegen could part ways with the Spanish giants to join Manchester City, while Liverpool are also said to be in the race to sign the 23-year-old as Simon Mignolet’s summer replacement.
However, the English publication further adds that should Barca fail to sign Schmeichel, they may as well go for Southampton’s Fraser Forster as the Claudio Bravo’s assistant. Thanks to Schmeichel’s safe hands between the goalposts, the Foxes have now opened an eight-point lead at the top of the table as the title race narrows down to the final three games.
