The Paris terror attack seems to have had a great impact on Edinson Cavani’s future in France.

Cavani's Uruguayan teammate Alvaro Gonzalez recently revealed that the PSG forward was sceptical about his possible return to Paris after the terror attack that claimed at least 128 lives and injured 99. Although Cavani was not directly affected by the attack as he was on international duty with his country by the time the terrorists struck, Gonzalez told French newspaper L’Equipe:

''This is horrible for football and for the city. They spoke of the fact that David Luiz would no return to Paris and Edinson also said he would rather not have to go either.’’

As a result, English Premier League champions Chelsea are keen on luring the Uruguayan to the Stamford Bridge this January if he fails to return to Paris. The Blues are facing a major striking crisis with the likes of Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao firing blanks in front of goal.

Falcao could be on his way to Valencia to pave way for Cavani's arrival at Chelsea

However, PSG are keen on retaining the striker, who is widely seen as the long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who only has 12 months remaining in his contract with the French club. Zlatan, 33, is also expected to end his career out of France and has been linked to Manchester United several times.

Last season, 28-year-old Cavani scored a total of 31 goals but he has also been quoted saying that he does not like playing out wide. The former Napoli man prefers playing as a central striker, a role that he is almost guaranteed of when he finally makes a move to Chelsea. A section of French media claim that the deadly striker could be worth £35 million, a price tag that the West London club can easily afford.

Meanwhile Chelsea are in the race to sign Valencia winger Sofiane Feghouli, who has reportedly refused to sign a new deal at the Spanish club. Premier League rivals Manchester United have also expressed their interest to sign the 25-year-old but the Blues seem more serious with the transfer if Eden Hazard leaves the West London club this January.
