The last time the two teams met Liverpool won 6-3 in 2011. Some Malaysian players have protested against the poor scheduling of this game.

You're not reading it wrong, and yes Liverpool will play against a national team to wrap up its pre-season schedule in the Far East. Malaysia will assemble eleven of their best players to play against one of England's best clubs at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

This is actually not the first time that this game will happen. In 2011, The Reds also played against Malaysia and ended up beating them 6-3. We can expect something similar to happen this time around considering the fact that Liverpool is undefeated in their pre-season and that Malaysian players are already halfway through their season.

Simon Mignolet, Martin Skrtel, Nathaniel Clyne and Jordan Henderson have had solid performances in the previous games for Liverpool and could be expected to be considered by Brendan Rodgers to start the game against Malaysia. Ticket sales for this match have already exceeded 50,000 for what could be a record-setting crowd at the stadium to presence the game.

Danny Ing's wants to keep showing his new manager that he is the right man for the job in Liverpool's attacking third. After already scoring his first goal with his new jersey, confidence to keep scoring and gaining respect from Rodgers is what Ings should be after. James Milner has also created good impressions so far this pre-season. A good game against Malaysia could secure him a spot in the starting XI for when the Premier League begins.

Malaysian players are already complaining about the poor scheduling for this game, as it affects their domestic league. They obviously want to make themselves look good in what is probably the most televised game in that country.

Some of their players are protesting against how this game is being planned. A few of the players called up for this match had not even showed up to practice less than 24 hours before the game. Robert Cornthwaite, Afiq Azmi and Ahmad Hazwan Bakri are just some of the players refusing to represent their country in what many see as a highly-lucrative game.
