It was billed as certainly the biggest game of this weekend, as reigning Premier League champions Manchester City welcomed Arsenal to the Etihad.
Fans were eagerly looking forward to seeing the battle of the South American stars Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero, as well as how the Gunners would fare against one of the contenders for the league title this season.
While neither Aguero nor Sanchez found the back of the net, it did not matter, as Santi Cazorla converted a first-half penalty and Olivier Giroud sealed all three points in the second half with a well-placed header that left Arsenal fans in raptures and City fans shocked.
So given the popularity of this mouth-watering clash, fans as usual took to social media to express their opinions following the result. The topics, not surprisingly were the two teams but also how another team might be feeling after this match...
Check out some the reactions to the game, Cazorla's great performance...and that celebration from Giroud below:

If Wenger plays Ozil ahead of Santi. He must explain with 7 powerpoints alongside G8 leaders for me to consider understanding that decision.

Cazorla's run there summed up his afternoon. 40-yards, swerved, dribbled, tackled, hustled and finally fell over. A man inspired today.

Arsenal actually have a dominant goalkeeper - David Ospina hasn't put a foot wrong. Szczesny might as well buy a 20-pack on the way home.

And some criticism from frustrated Manchester City fans (with some snark from neutrals):
Jesus Navas subbed. He'll probably struggle to cross the road on his way home tonight #MCFCvAFC

A 'rare' Vincent Kompany mistake added to the ever increasing collection.
