One more chapter in the rivalry between USA and Honduras will be written today in Boca Raton. Both sides will try to integrate newcomers to their squads, since Jurgen Klinsmann and Hernan Medford are looking to improve their teams for next year's commitments.
The USMNT ended the Landon Donovan era with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador, and had to let go six of their players after Friday's match. German coach Jurgen Klinsmann will have his team boosted with the addition of Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones and Graham Zusi, who played in the last World Cup for the stars and stripes. Nick Rimando will take Brad Guzan's place guarding Team USA's net, while Klinsmann gives some newcomers the chance to start, although he did not reveal which ones.
For Honduras, this may become their last match under Hernan Medford's helm. The Costa Rican coach has endured harsh criticism after not being able to qualify the Central American team to the Gold Cup. Rumors indicate former Costa Rica manager Jorge Luis Pinto will be taking the job off Medford's hands if the result is not satisfying. Honduras lost their previous friendly match against Mexico with a 2-0 score. Medford was criticized for their poor performance against a Mexican team that seemed to manage them quite easily.
This will be the 20th match between the two nations, with a clear advantage for the U.S. with 15 wins and four losses against Los Catrachos.
