Friday saw what should have been an exciting World Cup fixture between the rising stars of the Mexican national team and the always entertaining Samuel Eto'o and his Cameroon side.
The game, though, proved nothing but that as it ended in disappointing fashion.
Despite the slim 1-0 scoreline in favor of Herrera's men, El Tri dominated much of the game with the Indomitable Lions putting up very little attacking threat.
Peralta scored the winning goal for Mexico
But what the game did do was cast doubt over the ability of FIFA's referees to officiate games to the highest standard.
The most talked about topic of the match had nothing to do with the performance of the players but rather the linesman, who had controversially ruled out two goals by Villarreal striker Giovani dos Santos as offside though the replay showed the goals should have stood as the the Mexican was onside for both.
This was the first denied dos Santos goal
And this was the second
