Riccardo Montolivo, will not play with Italy after suffering a severe injury in a World Cup friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
The Italian player released some statements during an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport. The captain of AC Milan talked about his national team and their odds in the 2014 World Cup. The Italian said:
“I believe in the semifinal. Only Brazil, Spain and Germany are superior to us.”

The midfielder then talked about Italy’s initial game against Roy Hodgson’s England. Aware of the danger posed by the Three Lions, Montolivo revealed:
“That will be the most difficult match. It will be a defining game for the World Cup.”
