As every country starts getting ready for the upcoming World Cup, managers are releasing their final 23-man squad. This task has proven quite difficult for England’s manager, Roy Hodgson.

The Three Lions' boss has not yet released his squad and this should not surprise considering the depth of England’s squad and key-injuries.

Although there are the “immovable” players like Rooney, Hart and Gerrard, already the LB position becomes problematic, to say the least. Everton’s Baines seems to be the favorite, but who should be the substitute? All time favorite and experienced Ashley Cole or impressive 18-years-old Luke Shaw?

Roy Hodgson’s issues do not end there. With Walcott and Townsend both injured, the options for a comparable right-winger are scarce. Furthermore, Wilshere will likely be on the squad, despite him being incredibly injury-prone.

Most of the Englishman’s problems are a reflection of the tension between promoting youngsters and keeping a certain degree of experience on the field. Potential age-duels will likely see Carrick battling his place with Henderson, Defoe against Welbeck, where the latter has been preferred in the past, and both Lallana and Barkley jeopardize Lampard’s spot.

One thing is clear, most managers would like to have Hodgson’s “problems.”
