After many years featuring Lionel Messi as the face of the Pepsi industries, a new radical change is forthcoming. A preview of the upcoming Pepsi commercial sees a rock and roll version of Luis Suarez getting ready for a concert while “Born to be wild” by Steppenwolf plays in the background. The Uruguayan looks wild indeed in his leather jacket and Ray Bans.

Liverpool’s striker, undoubtedly one of the best center-forwards in the world, has often been at the center of controversies, sometimes because of his eccentric celebrations, other times due to questionable reactions on the pitch, such as the bite on Ivanovic’s arm, which cost him a 10-game ban.

Regardless of the reasons that caused the Uruguayan’s controversial reputation, one fact is beyond dispute: Suarez is a bold move, even more so after one of the most likeable and humble figures in football [Lionel Messi] has represented Pepsi for so many years.

Born to be wild: 18 seconds of Rock n Roll vibes with Luis Suarez

Was it the right choice for Pepsi? Time will probably tell. However, with 30 goals to his name and a multitude of broken records in the 2013/14 English Premier League campaign, there is no doubt that “El Pistolero” has the attraction factor.

Moreover, with his media-exposure, may it be of negative or positive nature, Suarez will provide Pepsi with plenty of visibility…if they needed more.
