The Rossoneri are desperate to hang on to their star player with a big contract, but are also looking at the possibility of his departure this summer.

Although the summer transfer window in Europe's biggest leagues hasn't opened yet, many clubs have already started making plans regarding their personnel for the 2021/2022 season.

That, of course, includes AC Milan. The Rossoneri are currently still hoping to try to catch cross-town rivals Inter in the Scudetto race, although they're six points behind. Meanwhile, they are hoping to hang on to their key players, including first-choice shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation since making his debut in 2015 at the age of 16 and has rapidly developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world. To that end, it's no surprise his current employers have reportedly offered him a new contract worth €8 million per season as his current €6 million deal expires in June.

However, as he hasn't fully committed pen to paper, Milan have already started looking at other options, both among their fellow Serie A sides as well as abroad.

Some of these options, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport include Juan Musso and Pierluigi Gollini, who ply their trades at Udinese and Atalanta respectively and would cost €30 million.

If the Rossoneri decide to look outside Italy, there's PSG's Alphonse Areola, currently playing for Fulham, or Lille's Mike Maignan as potential options for the no. 1 spot.
