“Everything becomes more complicated” without Lionel Messi… That’s the way Barcelona’s Gerard Pique sees and feels things since the Argentine superstar is out injured.
Messi suffered a clumsy challenge last weekend when Barcelona played away to Atletico Madrid. The 23-year-old player gravely twisted his ankle under Ujfalusi’s challenge and will have to miss at least two weeks of action as a result.

Whereas Real Madrid fans are curious to see how Barcelona will cope without the presence of their play maker, defender Gerard Pique is already feeling the heat. On Wednesday night, the Blaugrana hosted Sporting Gijon in La Liga with David Villa’s solitary goal proving to be just enough to clinch a victory.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Barcelona’s Gerard Pique talked about the situation as he declared:

“Yes, the challenge is to win every day, with or without Leo. However, it’s true that without Messi, everything becomes more complicated.

“But, we’ve got players who can replace him. I know [Lionel Messi] wants to return to action as soon as possible, whether we are winning or not.

“Anyways, we need to let him recover. The season is a long one, and we need him.”

Barcelona may have to improve on their latest performance if they want to be sure of avoiding upsets against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday and against Rubin Kazan next Wednesday.
