AS refute claims that the Man United goalkeeper will sign a new deal with the Red Devils, reporting that he has in fact decided on exiting Old Trafford.

The latest reports circulating in the news claims that Manchester United are inches away from agreeing a new lucrative deal with hot-shot goalkeeper David De Gea.

An integral figure in the club’s resurgence and push for the English Premier League title, the Spaniard’s contract expires June 30 of next year, meaning he could leave Old Trafford at the end of the 2015-16 season for free.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Red Devils have made substantial progress in convincing De Gea to put pen to paper on a contract renewal, with only 18 months left on his current deal.

This, however, is a story refuted by Manu Sainz of AS, who argues that the 24-year-old goalkeeper has his mind set on returning to La Liga, almost five years after leaving Atletico Madrid for Manchester, and will thus quit his current employers.

Favorites to land De Gea are 10-time Champions League winners Real Madrid. Los Blancos have reportedly already made contact with the player, and are keen on acquiring his services as they search for Iker Casillas’ replacement.

Saint also went on to add that Manchester United have been made aware of De Gea’s intentions to leave, forcing Louis Van Gaal to sign former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes on an 18-month contract, which was announced on Thursday.

The 20-time English Premier League champions will apparently not stand in De Gea’s way, as the club seeks to profit from the Spaniard, with a 30m Euro price tag being placed on La Furia Roja ace’s head.

If De Gea were to pack his bags and depart from the Theatre of Dreams, the Red Devils will turn their attentions towards signing Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul.
