A product of prestigious Ajax academy, Blind signed a four-year contract with the ‘Red Devils’.

Manchester United confirmed the news on Monday during the transfer deadline day. The 24-year-old will play the next four seasons for United with an option in his contract to play for a further year.

The Dutchman had a successful World Cup campaign with his country, taking the third place of the tournament after beating hosts Brazil 3-0. Blind has made 19 appearances with the Netherlands and has scored one goal with the national team.

Blind started his career in his home country playing for Ajax, where he has spent most of his career. The versatile player has made 102 appearances with the Amsterdam club. Daley has played in several positions during his career, including right-back, left-back and defensive midfielder. 

Regarding his arrival to Manchester United, Blind commented:

"It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United. I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there. Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world."

On the other hand, United’s boss Louis Van Gaal also had his word on the transfer:

"He is a very intelligent and versatile footballer that can play in many positions. Daley is a great reader of the game, he has played under my philosophy over a number of years and he will be a great addition to the team."
