Fernando Torres' return to Atletico Madrid has already produced for the Spanish champions. Led by El Niño, Los Colchoneros eliminated Real Madrid and stripped them of one of the titles they won last year. Torres struck in the beginning of each half, giving his team the much needed calm to get them into the next stage.
El Niño scored his first goal during the first minute of the game, taking advantage of a gruesome error by Portuguese defender Pepe. Sergio Ramos equalized for Los Blancos, but Carlo Ancelotti's team was not able to score the go-ahead goal before the half ended. Once the game resumed, Torres made Pepe look really bad once again, giving Atletico the lead. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the second goal for Los Merengues, but time went on and the result did not change.
The man of the match scored his first-ever goals at Santiago Bernabeu stadium, breaking a 15-month streak without a brace, having netted two goals in the same game back in October 2013. Furthermore, Torres became the FIRST player to score against Real Madrid during the first minute of each half in Los Blancos' 112-year history, and if it wasn't enough highlights for the former Chelsea and AC Milan player, his first goal was the quickest ever scored in a Copa del Rey fixture at Real Madrid's turf.
