Manchester United travels to Stockholm to play AIK in the Friends Arena in Solna as they prepare for Swansea in the Premier League.

Preview: David Moyes and Phil Neville gear up for a testing season ahead

Phillip Neville had an interesting choice to make in his childhood. He was equally talented in two sports he had a passion for- football and cricket. He eventually chose football but stuck to his passion for cricket. In fact, he was following the Ashes while United was on their way to Stockholm.

Neville’s return to United might be one filled with mixed feelings. He left at a time when United was developing into one of the world’s best teams. He is back at perhaps the place where he belongs, just in a different position. Nemanja Vidic is also back exactly where he belongs. He is set to captain United again after recovering from a sciatica problem. Wayne Rooney, however, will miss out after reportedly hurting his shoulder.

Overall, the squad Man United have chosen is quite strong. Former Borussia Dortmund wunderkind, Shinji Kagawa, former Arsenal skipper Robin Van Persie, the legend Ryan Giggs and one of last season’s excellent midfielders Michael Carrick have all been selected by the duo of Moyes and Neville.

This is what Nemanja Vidic said about the match against their Swedish opponents:

“It’ll be an important match for us and it’s another chance for us to build on our fitness and our form. It’ll be nice to meet the fans over there, too. It’s a nice place to visit. We were there last year and we know we have a great base of fans over there. We’re all looking forward to it.”

This is how he feels about David Moyes:

“The way he’s working with us in training and talking to us and the energy he has brought to the club makes me believe he is going to be really good for United. I can already see he has a great work ethic, he showed that at Everton, and that’s going to be important for this club; [Manchester] United is built on a great work ethic. I think he is a great manager to replace Sir Alex.”
