A picture of Pep with a young ballboy back in 2017 went viral on social media after that young ballboy made his senior debut for the Cityzens in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester's 3-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade was an unforgettable game for academy graduate Micah Hamilton. Not only did the 20-year-old attacker make his senior debut for the club in the UEFA Champions League but he also scored on his debut, breaking the deadlock for the Cityzens.

And it did not stop there. The young Englishman also won a second-half penalty, which Kalvin Phillips dispatched to secure the champions of Europe a win in their final group-stage game of the competition.

Hamilton was unsurprisingly buzzing after the game during his interview but one of the most heartfelt incidents following this unforgettable debut involved Pep Guardiola during his post-match press conference.

A special picture went viral on social media once Micah Hamilton was confirmed in the lineup. That picture was from six years ago when Micah was a ballboy for the team. The Spanish tactician could be seen putting his arms around an even younger Micah, giving instructions to an aspiring player who would go on to feature in the first team less than a decade later.

One journalist brought this to Pep's attention. Guardiola did not realize that he met the 20-year-old six years ago when he was a ballboy and his reaction to seeing the picture was that of utmost pride. Check out this lovely moment in the video below.

"I didn't know! Six years ago? He grew up, huh? Pep said in awe.

The Spaniard later went on to praise the youngster's performance, adding: "Wow, what a goal! What a game. I'm so happy for him. He's training quite often with us, we saw his skills up front one against one and he made a fantastic goal and penalty, and when he could not be one against one he gave extra passes.

"Defensively he was aggressive. Congratulations to the academy over the last [few] years."

Hamilton helped Manchester City secure their perfect record in the UEFA Champions League group stage, a feat only Real Madrid matched this season. While the attacker will keep this moment in his heart forever, the focus quickly shifts for Guardiola.

The Cityzens host Crystal Palace this weekend amid a heated Premier League title race with Arsenal, Liverpool, and  — much to everyone's surprise — Aston Villa. After that, it is off to Saudi Arabia to kick start their FIFA Club World Cup. Additionally, the Spaniard will have one eye on the UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw, scheduled for this Monday, with Manchester City set to face one of Copenhagen, PSV, Napoli, Inter, Porto, PSG, or Lazio.
