The Cityzens lifted another trophy on Wednesday but will return to action as early as Saturday for a difficult showdown with Newcastle.

Manchester City have added another trophy to their cabinet, beating Sevilla to the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. However, Pep Guardiola was unhappy about one issue and let it out during the post-match press conference.

The Premier League giants, who won the treble a few months ago, traveled to Greece to face the UEFA Europa League champions and had to fight from a goal down to overcome the Spaniards.

Youssef En-Nesyri broke the deadlock after 25 minutes and the Cityzens were made to wait until the 63rd minute for the equalizer, with academy graduate Cole Palmer leveling the score shortly after the hour mark.

It remained this way until the final whistle, and just like in the Community Shield, there was no extra time. The game went straight to penalties; however, this time, Manchester City triumphed 5-4 to lift the trophy.

However, while the City players celebrated this victory, there were restrictions over what they could do. The reason is simple: Haaland and Co. will be back in action on Saturday, taking on Newcastle in what should be an exciting and difficult Premier League clash.

And this frustrated the Spanish manager, who sarcastically complimented the English top flight for forcing his team to play on Saturday and not on a Sunday or Monday. Check out his statement in the video below.

While Manchester City's clash with Newcastle is a late kick-off, commencing at 3 p.m. ET live exclusively on Peacock in the USA, the reigning champions would have tremendously benefited from playing on Sunday or – preferably – Monday.

The Cityzens, who kicked off their title defense with a 3-0 win against Burnley, should be in for a tough time against the Magpies. Eddie Howe's men haven't played since Saturday's 5-1 thrashing of Aston Villa and will thus have a tremendous physical advantage over the Manchester giants.
